Hawaii — 29th August,-to - 31st August, 2023

Left home in an Ubur at 7.30pm for the airport. Checked in then it took for ever to go through customs. A bit of a panic before we checked in as realised I had taken two copies of Peters American visa thinking I had one copy each hence I didn’t have mine. All I could do is say can you look mine up on the computer  🤞  which they did phew I was allowed through. This is the way they have always done it in the past  have never been asked for the paper copy but this one time they did.  Anyway after that bit of stress I am here. On departure they have five X-ray booths on the other side through immigration but they were only using two. It must have taken about half an hour or more to have our luggage checked through the X-ray .Probably lack of staff who knows. People weren’t happy. We had heard about these long queues but hadn’t experienced it before. Always very fast to get through. So be prepared Dave allow plenty of time. Then went  up to the lounge until our boarding time. They always give you a full meal on these late flights which you don’t need but eat it anyway. All you want to do is go to sleep. Probably about 1.00am before we pushed our seats out to sleep mode. Slept through until we were woken for breakfast one and a half hours before landing. Hence not knowing much about the flight at all. So easy getting through customs  going into America a few question, picked up our luggage and walked straight out no waiting in queues like Auckland. We have now had three nights in Hawaii but apart from stocking up on food on the first day and walks down to the Ala Moana centre each morning that’s it. Just taking it slow as with the heat it takes a few days to adjust to the change of temperature from home. All good now it’s the fourth day. It’s Labour weekend this first weekend when they have all their big sales so we will be checking that out. Although with the poor dollar  exchange rate we have to think twice before spending. 😟

Ready for take off  at 11.35pm when we left Auckland on the 29th August. With a push of a button the seats go out to a flat bed. Very comfortable. Great for a night flight.

Ilikai where we are staying taken from the other side of the harbour. Red circle shows our Condo. This left wing is where we always stayed when we first came up to Hawaii. Then we  changed to staying in the right wing so had a change this year going back to the left.

Taken from our balcony of our Condo.

First small sunset after arriving.

Standing in the kitchen looking out

Good large king bed

Looking in from the balcony you might notice that I have changed the furniture around. Put couch along in front of kitchen so you can look out to sea instead of just looking at the TV

Kitchen well stocked with everything we need. We cook our meals in the unit.  might get out for dinner a couple of times.

It’s Friday night here now just about to go down to watch the Hiltons Friday night fireworks display on the beach. Had our first swim today. Beautiful but the water was a little cooler than usual but great once you were in.
Haven’t been out taking photos yet. There won’t be many as it’s all repetitive over the years. A very quiet  weekly blog. Also we got the American Open tennis for two days but can’t watch it now as there is some dispute with the ownership of certain channels. And of cause all the tennis isn’t available until they come to some agreement. Don’t know when that will be dam annoying. Hope it’s all sorted before the finals at least. But not looking good.
