Hawaii - 1st September - to - 8th September 2023

Some photos showing what we got up to over the week.

Looking down from our balcony ( Lanai)

Relaxing

Friday 1st September.

Yachts leaving the Boat Harbour to take part in the Friday evening yacht race. This takes place every Friday starting at 6.00pm. From our balcony.

Saturday 2nd September.

Ala Moana Shopping centre, we walk over there every couple of days picking up supplies. As I have explained before we just pick up what we can comfortably carry home.  Hence food shopping regularly.

Monday 4th September,
Hawaiian Labour Day. All the shops have a four day sale over the long weekend. There are some really good reductions on their prices. We didn’t go near the shops today so went for a walk out to the end of the Ala Moana Beach Park.

Walked out to the end and looked back across over the Boat Harbour to the Ilikai where we are staying, turquoise colour trim on the building towards the right. Not good photography as looking back right into the morning sun.

Standing on the breakwater at the end of the park, swimming area on the left Boat Harbour  and Channel to the right.

Paddling back into the harbour. Diamond Head in the background. Have climbed up there a couple times over the years. Not for me now, too old.

Standing out on the breakwater at the entrance to the Boat Harbour.

Closer look through the boats to our hotel in behind. Turquoise colours.

Main Street running behind our hotel in the distance. Can just see a corner of our hotel behind the trees on the right. A little bit of the turquoise  trim showing. Don’t usually see no cars on the road. Just happened to take the photo just as the cars had gone through on the green lights.

On Tuesday 5th September.

Took the bus into Honolulu to go to the markets and picked up a few veggies. This area is where you can sit and eat food that you buy.

Walking through the fish market. This chap told us they were snapper that he is holding up to show us. Don’t look like our snappers.

Waiting at the bus stop to return home. Looking up through the CBD of Honolulu.

Thursday 7th September.

Our wedding Anniversary in New Zealand time which is on the 8th September. We went to Eggs and Things for brunch, which is a restaurant which does everything to do with eggs. Opens early and shuts at 2.00pm specialising in breakfast and brunch. Peter had a spinach and bacon omelette with three pancakes which he didn’t realise he got with the omelette.

I thought that I had ordered three pancakes but when it arrived there were five. One look at it and I  thought no way could I eat all of this.

Previous photos above are the before and above photo the after. You thought that we ate the lot. No we had to ask for a takeaway box. We ended up taking five pancakes home two of PTs and three of mine. I bagged them up separately and put in the freezer to bring out for after our dinner as we wanted.

Friday 8th September,
Wedding Anniversary, Hawaiian time.

Taken on our balcony just before we went out to dinner for our 50th Wedding Anniversary which is on the 8th September

Went to dinner at an Italian Restaurant in the Ala Moana Centre. 10 min walk away. Above drinks have arrived.

My cocktail was called Aloha Breeze very nice.

Back home looking hot after our walk home as we went via the Friday night fireworks on the beach in front of the Hilton Hotel. Again on our Balcony but now background at night with Boat Harbour behind us.

I will post photos of the fireworks in my next blog.
